CEO
Gavin Lucas is an entrepreneurial property developer backed by an experienced management team of professionals with a range of skills including investment banking, finance and construction. He founded the WimbledonWay Investments Group of companies in 2004.
After extensive research on the international and domestic self storage industry, Gavin identified a structural and long term need for self storage in South Africa. Gavin is responsible for the strategic direction of the Group, business development and oversees the overall operations. He has been instrumental in the execution of the Group’s strategy and has played a vital role in building key relationships.
Gavin is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having previously worked for KPMG in South Africa, and completed his undergraduate and post graduate studies at the University of Cape Town.
Stephen Lucas CA(SA), CFA charterholder
Chief Financial Officer
A qualified Chartered Accountant and CFA charterholder, Stephen has over 12 years of financial experience. He spent 6 years working in the London financial markets, primarily in corporate finance and transaction support. Prior to joining the group on a full time basis, Stephen worked for a mergers and acquisitions consultancy in London advising clients on corporate transactions in the metals and mining sector.
Steven Horton CA(SA)
Business Development Director
Steven oversees the procurement of self storage opportunities for the Group. Further to this, Steven heads up the investment brokering division of SASSI, managing the Group's corporate sales strategy and corporate relationships.
Steven has conducted a significant amount of research in the US self storage market and spearheaded the completion of the first ever Stor-Age Self Storage (Pty) Ltd National Research Study August 2007 ® on the South African market.
Steven is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having previously worked for Ernst & Young in South Africa and the US, and completed his undergraduate and post graduate studies at the University of Cape Town.
Les Lucas
Property Director
Les has over 40 years of experience in the construction, property development and property administration industry, with his key attribute being his hands on approach and attention to detail on all projects.
Les is responsible for consulting on new opportunities, project managing the construction aspects of developments with the professional team, as well as overseeing all technical areas of projects undertaken. After years of practical experience, Les displays a thorough understanding of the intricacies of the South African property and construction market and is able to provide practical and strategic guidance through the full spectrum of the self storage development life cycle.
Les has successfully managed the development and construction of hundreds of properties in South Africa, including educational, residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
